Sunjel is a unique alcohol based Gel originally developed in 1985 for use in Ventless Gel Fireplaces. For the last twenty years Sunjel has become immensely popular and well respected internationally for its excellent performance in Gel Fireplaces and more recently in Gelburners.
Within 30 seconds of lighting Sunjel, a dazzling 20cm (8") flame appears creating an instant warm glow to the room, adding a delightful charming ambience to any décor! Sunjel also makes a crackling sound just like a burning log! Although Sunjel has no significant odour when burning , a faint 'scented candle may be detected by some.
Sunjel is composed of Isopropyl Alcohol (commonly known as 'rubbing alcohol') which is made from sugarcane and corn. It has added sea salt, water and organic thickeners. It does not contain any petroleum, MIBK (Methyl Isobutyl Ketone) or fossil fuel products. All ingredients are made from natural renewable resources. Sunjel is completely biodegradable and water soluble. Empty Sunjel Canisters are just rinsed and recycled.
Sunjel is easy to light and has no sudden flare up. Flames take approximately 30 seconds to reach full height and are easily extinguished. Any unused Gel can be saved and relit another time. Brilliant golden/orange full bodied flames of 20cm (8") are produced, giving a cosy warm ambience to a dinner party or a relaxing effect whilst resting by the fireside!
Up to three canisters of Sunjel may be used in our Fireplaces, each 369gram canister lasting up to 2½ to 3 hours depending on humidity levels. Three canisters of Sunjel yield 2.6kw (9000 btu's) of heat, equivalent to a 1hp air conditioner.
A single canister of Sunjel is used in our indoor Gelburners to create a warm welcoming atmosphere and at the same time add an interesting focal point to entertaining areas.
Sunjel took years to develop and has
undergone stringent laboratory testing to receive the necessary
approvals for indoor use.

Sunjel Citronella is the only Gel with Citronella essence added, specifically intended for outdoor use in outdoor Gelburners and Chimineas. It has the same dazzling flames as Sunjel Red Label, but as it is slightly thicker in consistency, it lasts longer, up to 3 ½ hours.
Gelburners using Sunjel Citronella are ideal to use whilst entertaining on your balcony, terrace, swimming pool or barbeque areas. Your guests will enjoy the hypnotic glow of the dancing flames as well as appreciate the absence of mosquitoes!

Sunjel is the only alcohol based gel to be fully approved for indoor use by Underwriters Laboratories Canada (ULC)* and is certified by Environment Canada. Testing was conducted by Intertek** and Chemisar Laboratories***.
Each canister of Sunjel displays the well earned ULC logo. This is the highest approval rating of a product in U.S.A and Canada, and is accepted in Europe, the U.K and internationally.
The manufacturing company 2Burn Inc., in Wisconsin U.S.A is inspected quarterly by UL officials to ensure consistent product quality is maintained and legal labeling and packaging is followed.
